The course is focused on mastering basic language skills in a particular language. The student is able to understand frequently used everyday expressions and basic phrases and can use them as needed. The student can read and understand simple text, formulate simple questions about basic needs and common topics. He/She is also able to respond to the questions while the person he/she is communicating with speaks slowly and clearly.
The course consists of the winter term and the summer term. Winter term ends with the written “zápočet” test and at the end of the summer term both the written “zápočet” test and an oral exam are required to be passed successfully.

After completing the course, the student is able to communicate in a foreign language simply and effectively. He/she can introduce himself/herself and establish communication in a formal and informal environment. In terms of written competencies, the student is able to write about everyday aspects of his/her life in simple sentences, understand and correctly fill out forms. When reading written materials, he/she understands short texts with frequent vocabulary and can select basic information. As for listening comprehension, he/she can understand the necessary basic information when it is presented at an appropriate pace and in standard language. In addition to the common means of expression of a neutral functional style, the student will also acquire basic professional vocabulary (approx. 50 terms) during both semesters.

At the end of the course, a student is able to participate at common conversation topics, e.g. a
small talk with colleagues, make appointments or have a telephone conversation. When reading
and listening he/she can recognise the main conclusions and argument line. Concerning written production, they will be able to conduct basic e-mail communication of both a private and professional nature. After completing the course, a student will be able to use general and professional vocabulary, and communicate effectively in the English language. The reading skills will be targeted at the comprehension of the specialized texts and selection of the essential information. In the written communication a student will be able to describe the fundamental data from the text and summarize the text. As for listening comprehension, a student will demonstrate the skill to understand the monological and dialogical speech in the particular specialization.

After completing the course, the student will be able to communicate and engage in conversation on topics that he/she knows or that are related to their field of work. The student will also be able to present, briefly explain and defend his opinions. When reading and listening, he/she will understand texts with everyday vocabulary and terminology related to their work. Concerning written production, the student will be able to compose a structured and coherent text, conduct e-mail communication of both a private and professional nature as well as compose and deliver a PowerPoint presentation on a given topic. In addition to the common means of expression of a neutral functional style, the student will also acquire a professional vocabulary (approx. 150 terms) during both semesters.

At the end of the course, students will be able to use general and technical vocabulary. They will understand demanding texts on the topics of their fields of study and be able to use the language effectively for social and professional purposes and present the results of their work. In written communication, students will be able to summarize the main ideas of texts and professionally express their opinions. As for listening comprehension, students will be able to understand different communication styles and lectures on the topics of their fields of study.
It is a two-semester course. At the end of the winter semester, ´zápočet´ (a credit) is required. At the end of the summer semester, both ´zápočet´ (a credit) and an exam are required.

The course is focused on the development of oral communication in a foreign language. Students learn to express their thoughts fluently and effectively in a variety of situations, including both formal and informal contexts. The course content emphasizes the ability to express opinions, present arguments, respond to questions and lead a discussion. Through practical activities, simulations and role-plays, students practice active listening, expand their vocabulary and strengthen their fluency, pronunciation and grammatical accuracy. At the end of the course, students will be able to interpret and analyse audio texts, read authentic texts with understanding and communicate effectively in the target language. Students are ready to communicate confidently and accurately in a variety of social and work situations.

At the end of the course, students will be able to read and understand the main ideas of complex authentic texts connected with their field of study, use technical vocabulary from the key areas of biotechnology in the written communication within the academic and professional environment as well as present results of their research findings, and fluently participate in technical discussions.
It is a one-semester course. At the semester, both ´zápočet´ and exam are required. Recommended level of language proficiency – at least B1+.

The aim of the course is to develop the language skills in selected areas of human activity - developing and practicing communicative language competences by implementing specific language tools, four language skills and effective teaching methods. The students will understand the written texts as well as audio texts and will be able to select and process the basic information on a given issue. They will be able to conduct a dialogue in pairs or groups using the acquired basic professional vocabulary.
The course can only be completed in the winter term. It ends with the written ´zápočet´ test at the end of the winter term. In order to be assigned the credits, it is also necessary to complete the course English for Economists and Managers 2 in the summer term, which ends with the written ´zápočet´ test and the exam.

The aim of the course is the development of language skills in selected areas of human activity with the focus on speaking as well as the selection of specific language tools and teaching methods leading to the effective acquisition of professional vocabulary.
The students will understand both the written texts and the audio texts and will be able to select and process the specific information on a given issue. They will be able to identify grammatical phenomena, synonyms and antonyms in specific texts. Moreover, they will be able to conduct a dialogue in pairs or groups using the acquired professional vocabulary as well as prepare a specific topic and present it individually.
The course can only be completed in the summer term. It ends with the written ´zápočet´ test and exam. To be assigned the credits, it is also necessary to complete the prerequisite course English for Economists and Managers 1, which ends with the written ´zápočet´ test in the winter term.

Students will be able to use vocabulary in the range of acquired communication situations and the thematic areas discussed during the course; they will be able to understand texts on general topics and texts for specific purposes and search for relevant information; they will be able to write an essay on topics from their fields of study using materials from different sources.
Students are allowed to take the course only in the winter term. At the end of the winter term, ´zápočet´ is required.

At the end of the course the students will be able to analyse all the significant phases of the business negotiation targeted at the mutual agreement of business partners and completion of contract, taking into consideration the acquisition of requirements of business correspondence. The course English for Academic Purposes focuses on acquiring basic skills and techniques related to academic writing and preparing professional presentations. Upon completing the course, students will master techniques for processing information, including selecting and analysing sources, summarizing, and paraphrasing. They will be able to create academic texts and presentations on specialized topics. Students will learn to critically analyse texts, identify key ideas, and logically structure their outputs. Additionally, they will be able to cite sources correctly following academic standards.
The course emphasizes the ability to express personal opinions on specialized topics, support them with arguments, and articulate them in an academic context. Students will have the opportunity to discuss ethical issues and academic standards associated with using AI tools, such as text summarization, improving linguistic accuracy, and enhancing text structure. After completing the course, students will be prepared not only to produce academic works but also to present specialized topics.

He/she can read and understand simple text, create simple questions about basic needs and common topics. He/she is also able to respond to the questions while the person he is communicating with speaks slowly and clearly. In terms of writing skills, he/she can write short, simple texts (for example postcard) and he/she can fill in forms with personal details.

At the end of the course a student is able to keep simply and effectively conversation in foreign language. He/she can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local area, employment). The student is able to read very short, simple texts and can find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, timetables, etc. In terms of spoken interaction, he/she is able to communicate in simple and routine situations and he/she can handle very short social exchanges enough to keep the conversation going himself. He/she can write short, simple notes and messages or a very simple personal letter.

At the end of the course a student is able to understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. He/she is able to react to everyday situations. He/she understands texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language. He/she can enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events). He/she can connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, he can narrate a story and describe his reactions. The student can write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, for example personal letters describing experiences and impressions.
The course is only for foreign students. It consists of the winter term and the summer term. At the end of the winter term ´zápočet´ is required.
